About Our Program
The meteorology program at NC State is small enough to allow close relationships among students and faculty, but large enough to provide a vast variety of skill sets in atmospheric sciences. Typical class sizes within the meteorology department range from 15 to 30 students, allowing individual attention both in and outside of the classroom. Specializations of active faculty member research within the program range from severe, winter, and tropical weather to aerosols and air quality with ample undergraduate research opportunities.
Networking amongst peers, faculty, and representatives from hiring agencies that have established relationships with the NC State meteorology program provide plentiful internship and employment opportunities to students. In addition, both the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Raleigh and the State Climate Office of North Carolina are located on NC State's Centennial Campus with both paid and course-for-credit internship opportunities open to undergraduate students. Nearby broadcast media stations and private corporations also have special relationships with the meteorology program and actively hire undergraduate students throughout the year.

Both alumni and current students often comment on the family atmosphere of the program and the social interactions among students.
