NCSU AMS

The American Meteorological Society at NC State is an outreach and professional development club that allows students to explore different job opportunities within meteorology. Monthly meetings invite guest speakers from local emergency management, broadcast media, government, and private sector organizations to discuss meteorology in their field and promotes networking of students and professionals.

Our AMS chapter has conducted outreach events to assist local Boy Scouts in achieving weather merit badges and visited local elementary schools to educate students about basic weather phenomena. Students within AMS also have the opportunity to attend the annual AMS National Conference in January where atmospheric scientists from across the nation convene. During this conference, professors, graduate students, broadcast students, and even undergraduate students participate in different seminars and events. The annual AMS Conference has proved to be an amazing networking opportunity for both academic and employment endeavors.
